Nazi space Buddha was meteorite, includes swastika

An ancient Buddhist statue known as the Iron Man that the Nazis stole from Tibet in 1938.
A 1,000-year-old Buddhist statue discovered in Tibet by Nazis searching for the origins of the Aryan race was hewn from meteorite, scientists have found.

It sounds like a mash-up of Indiana Jones' plots, but German researchers say a heavy Buddha statue brought to Europe by the Nazis was carved from a meteorite that likely fell 15,000 years ago along the border of Mongolia and Siberia.

The 10kg Iron Man statue, believed have originated from the 11th century Bon culture, depicts the god Vaisravana, the Buddhist King of the North, who is also known in Tibet as Jambhala. On his chest is a Buddhist swastika, a symbol of luck that was later co-opted by the Nazi party of Germany.

It's a rare day I leave your page without learning something interesting or useful - often both.

This was certainly interesting and informative, making it plenty useful.
