There will be no more mistaking him for John Belushi, Ron Jeremy or Rosie O'Donnell as the most recent photo of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the self-described planner of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, proves.
Snapped in July by the Red Cross at the Guantánamo Bay detention camp in Cuba, it's the first portrait published since March 1, 2003, when he was captured in a raid in Pakistan and photographed looking disheveled and beardless. [1st photo]
Two things about this new image bother me and neither has any bleeding-heart-liberal reference to the alleged 183 times he was waterboarded in the month after his capture where, I'm sure, he was a font of life-saving information.
First, what disturbs me is that this photo surfaced last week on jihadist Web sites, just prior to the eighth anniversary of 9/11. As I've mentioned before, jihadists pick attack dates that are meaningful to them. 9/11 is certainly one of those days now.
Secondly, I can't shake the notion that he appears to be making some sort of covert hand signal. What fingers are his thumbs resting on? Hey, doesn't his left hand appear to the camera as a "9"?
Perhaps my urban-polluted mind is just making me see gang signs that aren't really there. You too? It follows, having been inundated with images of these [intellectual] terrorists.
Wait just a minute... Is she trying to say something with that finger? :P -- news source
